PTRC IS AN EXPERT AT TAKING TECHNOLOGY THROUGH TO FIELD TRIALS AND COMMERCIALIZATION

The PTRC has been instrumental in getting some of the most cutting-edge technologies in enhanced oil recovery off the ground, and into the field.

The PTRC’s Joint Implementation of Vapour Extraction (JIVE) Project recently completed a series of three field trials, testing the use of different solvents in heavy oil fields to help increase production and reduce CO₂ emissions.  

The trials were extremely successful, and additional vapour extraction field trials are planned as a part of the STEPS network, including a project that will include Husky, Devon Energy and the Petroleum Technology Alliance of Canada (PTAC).
