Microsensor work gets boost with success of field trial and creation of Dutch-Canada consortium

Microsensor research at the PTRC got a boost in November of last year and February of this year with two major events:  Field trials at a heavy oil formation along the Saskatchewan-Alberta border successfully demonstrated, for the first time, the microsensors could pass from an injection to a production well - effectively illustrating that wormholes do exist in heavy oil formations as a result of cold heavy oil production with sand (CHOPS) production methods.  This successful demonstration of microsensors' abilities to travel through a reservoir led to discussions between the technology providers in the Netherlands and heavy oil research experts...
